We have to accept that telling lies is a fundamental part of who we are. We are influenced to lie from an early age.
 
Think back to a time when you were a child.
 
Did you ever receive a gift at Christmas time from a relative such as a jumper or something else which you hated?
Perhaps your parents told you to say thank you and you had to wear it all day.  
Has your partner ever asked you if they look good in their new clothes despite you thinking they look terrible and you lie and tell them YES!


The difference for me is the impact and consequence of the lie that is very low. We call these 'white lies' because they are generally told to avoid hurting the feelings of others or awkward situations.

They say that within any average of 10 minutes conversation, people will have statistically told you at least 3 white lies.

Avoiding punishment is the most frequent reason people tell serious lies, regardless of their age, whether it be to avoid the speeding ticket or an argument about being late. 

In serious lies there is a threat of real and significant damage if the lie is discovered:
loss of trust, freedom, money, job, relationship, reputation, or even life itself.

When we lie, the body gives off a mixture of tells signs and signals, these signs cannot be disguised or concealed even by accomplished liars.

The unconscious tells and signals are termed 'leakage '.
